Happy New Year Everyone!
It seems like everyone is ready for 2017 to be over and to start fresh in 2018. I think that is healthy. It is great to want to start fresh. Take stock of what you loved about 2017 and what you want to achieve in this new year 2018.
At the end of 2016 I wrote a post that was all about finishing what I had started. I actually kept this in mind this year and I think I did pretty well. Check out my post from last year on resolutions. Here are a few things from that post that I accomplished this year!
HOME STUFF
-Put up all of the art that we have collected so we can enjoy it and not just have it stacked up in the house DONE!
-Keep the dog hair under control. Get a regular vaccuming schedule ALWAYS WORKING ON THIS ONE
-Finally find and install new ceiling fans. DONE!
-Bathroom Fixes ALL DONE! WATCH FOR A FUTURE BLOG POST!
-Run a half marathon ROCKED THIS ONE!
-Find a day a week to schedule yoga again NOT ENOUGH YOGA WAS DONE THIS YEAR
-Work on being content with myself and work on appreciating the moment I am in and not always looking for what is next STILL WORKING ON IT!
-Stop saying you are “super busy” when people ask you how you are. It seems like people only say that when they are doing things they don’t want to do. I am going to continue to work on being positive and only “busy” myself with things that are important and that I enjoy doing. DONE AND DONE!
-Appreciate the people and animals in my life and let them know it ALWAYS WORKING ON THIS ONE
DESIGNPETPROJECT
-Figure out this SEO thing DONE!
-Learn how to use my soon to be purchased dslr camera DONE! BUT BEN GOT ME A BUNCH OF NEW THINGS TO USE WITH MY CAMERA!
Here are some of my favorite posts from 2017
Collections. How to display and control them
DIY for your Soul. It’s not always about me. A Safe Hands Story
Amazing Kauai Vacation (ok this was 2016 but it changed the way I think about 2017)
When I look back on 2017 so many things happened! I ran a half marathon! That was one of the most proud moments of my life. I really felt unstoppable that day. It was hard and so rewarding. All of my friends and family were there to help me along and I couldn’t have done it without Ben’s support. I would highly encourage everyone to try something out of their comfort zone. It makes you believe that you can accomplish anything. You are right.
Then…I got pregnant! Ben and I decided to let the universe take control of whether we were supposed to be parents. It decided yes! Rather quickly actually. This put 2017 into a whirlwind of growing bellies, sore backs, nursery decorating, and overall excitement about what is going to come.
For 2018 I am foregoing individual resolutions and replacing it with a mantra that seems to be fitting for this next year. It is not new or revolutionary but with so much going on it seems like this tagline has been seeking me out for quite a while. Now I am going to listen.
“Be in the moment.”
That is all. Our lives are about to change dramatically and it is going to be one of the biggest adjustments ever! This year I am going to appreciate what is in front of me now and try and not plan things too far in the future, hence the photo. I was trying to take an awesome new maternity photo and Penny wanted to be in it too. That is real life! I am going to enjoy being an awesome wife to Ben and parent to 2 cutie pie canines, and 1 new beautiful baby.
This is going to be super hard for me. It is going to take a lot of work to not think about what could happen and what should happen. I am a list maker, planner, and I like to know what is going on. This year I want to make sure that I don’t miss anything as it is happening!
Enjoy 2018 everyone! I hope everyone has some time to review 2017 and think about all of the exciting things 2018 will bring!
