It’s officially the holiday season everyone! Happy Holidays! I am finally finishing my nursery inspiration post! Ben and I just had a baby shower and that gave me soo much additional inspiration for the nursery. Shout out to all of my family and friends that came to the shower and my wonderful godmother for putting it all together beautifully! It was a great day filled with love and happiness…and lots of amazing baby stuff. The theme was falling in love with baby! So cute!
Since we aren’t finding out if the baby is a boy or girl we are keeping the nursery non themed and designing it as an extension of the house design. We are mostly mid-century with some Scandinavian mixed in so it is really easy to keep that going.
First, we gave the room a good coat of paint. Since we moved in the walls had been an icky medical color. You know, that green that everyone thinks is calming but really makes everyone feel numb? We used this opportunity as a blank canvas for the room. We have a ton of unframed art that is super kid friendly so we are going to use some of that for color pops and fun kid stuff. The color is a hint different from straight white so it should set off the bright white trim.
We chose Vermont Cream by Behr from Home Depot. I LOVE the color…but we used the paint and primer in one. The guy at the paint desk told us we would probably only need 1 coat…well we are going on 3. Huge bummer. This paint is also very thick to roll and paint on with a brush. So thick that if you try to touch it up after it starts to dry is smears and looks bumpy. This paint I think would be great if you had new walls that didn’t have previous paint or any color on the walls but for us it is way too thick. Oh well, live and learn.

I had to narrow down the inspiration images for the blog. Follow me on Pinterest for the complete nursery ideas page. People are so talented. There are so many fun ideas on the board.
One of the big influencers of the nursery is this amazing crib that we bought from one of Ben’s coworkers after their daughter grew out of it. I feel like this is an heirloom piece of furniture. It is from Kalon. Super minimalist and it totally flows with all of the other house furniture. This is a great example of Ben talking about our home projects with coworkers. Good lesson for everyone. If you put it out there you can score some awesome stuff from friends and neighbors.
This inspiration board combines a bunch of vintage stuff we already have and some new items that I just couldn’t resist. For the vintage items I have included links to something similar so you can get the look.
